We would like to welcome our first family to join the campaign – TOGETHER FOR TOBY!
TEAM TOBY is run by the Cartwright family in Wigan. They aim to use their experiences of to help raise awareness of Myotonic Dystrophy, as well as funds for support and research. The family is working hard to raise funds and awareness for this condition and you can visit their Facebook and Just Giving pages to follow their fundraising events and achievements.
Toby was born in August 2023 and was diagnosed with CDM at just 3 weeks old, subsequently mum Becky was diagnosed with DM1 a few months later.
Toby is the happiest little boy who faces every challenge in his own way, with his adorable smile and a cheeky laugh. He is not defined by his condition and instead makes his own rules and way in life. He is super determined, happy and full of positivity and strength.

Welcome to Team Toby officially launched in April 2025! We are so excited to be the first family in this campaign and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for Team Toby!Team Toby hosted their first ever event in September 2024 for Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day! Brad dyed his hair bright green and raised over £1,000!Team Toby t-shirt were designed as part of the Together for Toby launch of CureDM Together Campaigns.Team Toby took 12 runners along to the Great North Run in September 2025. It was a huge event and the biggest ever for CureDM raising over £10,000 for research, support and awareness for DM.

They did a raffle, a quiz and a live auction and ever appeared in their local newspaper!Team Toby took to the pitch in August 2025 at a local rugby match. They bucket collected with their family and friends and raised over £1,000!In March 2026 Team Toby was joined by over 50 individuals across 3 running events at the Run Wigan Festival from Family Miles to Half-marathons.

They raised over £8,000 for CureDM. Including Toby’s Dad, Grandad and Auntie Tracey!
